About Me
Working in Comfort

I grew up on a ranch located in the southern United States. For as long as I can remember, my father has raised beef cattle. Every summer, he has the arduous task of baling cutting and arranging hay into bales. Because of the hot humid weather in our part of the country, my father particularly dreaded this summer chore when I was young. His hay baler didn’t contain an air conditioner in it. Thankfully, he has recently acquired a hay baler with this convenience. Now, he can cut his hay down without even breaking a sweat. If you’re thinking about getting into the cattle business, consider opting for an air conditioned hay baler immediately. On this blog, you will discover the advantages of buying a new state-of-the-art hay baler with a built-in air conditioning system.

Have A Farm With Crops? Irrigation Equipment You Should Purchase

Luis Harvey

If you have a farm with crops, you cannot expect Mother Nature to provide you with all the water you want. To prevent you from having to water the crops yourself, you need to install an irrigation system. This will automatically water your crops so they will grow healthy. Below are some different types of irrigation systems and equipment you will need.

Drip Irrigation System

One type of irrigation system is known as drip irrigation. This is beneficial as water is provided directly to the roots of the crops you have planted. You also do not have to worry about water running off or evaporating before it has time to get to the roots. This can save you money in wasted water.

A drip irrigation system requires perforated tubes that are snaked around the crops. The tubes are connected to a water supply, such as an outside faucet. When the water is turned in, water slowly drops from the perforations. You can also purchase a timer with this system. You can then set the timer to turn the irrigation system on at a certain time and turn it off at a certain time. If you have a large crop field, you should hire a professional to install a drip irrigation system for you.

Sprinkler Irrigation System

There are sprinkler irrigation systems that are made for agricultural purposes. The sprinklers are generally higher pressure so water can cover a wider area. You may also hear the sprinkler heads referred to as guns with some systems. The sprinkler heads lay flat when the sprinkler system is not in use and pops up when it is turned on. As with a drip irrigation system, you can also purchase a timer so you can set the sprinkler system to turn on and off at a certain time each day.

If you have a large crop field, you will need to install more than one sprinkler irrigation system to make sure all crops are watered. This involves purchasing water pumps to provide water to the sprinklers, pipes for water to get to the pump, valves, and more. This involves digging in the ground to install the pipes, pumps, etc. so contact a professional if you choose this type of irrigation system.

There are other types of irrigation systems available for purchase, such as lateral move irrigation, sub-irrigation, and center pivot irrigation. Talk with an agricultural equipment supplier to learn much more about what you need to purchase with the system you choose.
